Feb. 15th - Koh Phi Phi Islands & Finding Leonardo Dicaprio

We had to wake up early today since we were doing a day trip to the Phi Phi islands.  But both of us slept perfectly in a hug comfy bed.  We had breakfast for the first time here and oh boy was there so much to choose from: scramble eggs, breads/rolls, fruit, cheeses, pancakes, french toast, at least 6 different juices, cereal, to Indian food, Chinese food, then all the different Thai foods.  It was huge!

We didn't pig out because we weren't sure what the day will bring us, so we didn't want to feel sick. I did just love the little bananas that Thailand has to offer though!

So cute!

The van that picked us up was a little late because some poor girl kept getting sick, but she came with us anyway.  We had to stop at about 3 other hotels to pick up some more people too.  When we were waiting, we saw people putting food & drinks out for Monks to take.  This is part of their religion.

It was about a 30-40 minute drive to the Marina where we got on a speed boat to head to the islands.  But first "Chris" our tour guide guy gave us a summary on how the day will go before we boarded our boat.  And they took our picture for insurance purposes.

He showed us a map of where we were going, each place. Here is the run down:

Tony and I got a good seat in the front of the speed boat.  We had the sea air blowing & keeping us cool.  And it was such a perfect day out, but the sun was hot.  We loaded up on our 50 SPF since we were sitting outside for the whole day.  The ride was simply beautiful though:

We then got to the an island where we went snorkeling.  Tony was a little nervous he wasn't going to be able to breath through the snorkel, however, he ended up being find and really enjoyed himself.

He had FUN
After about 45 minutes of snorkeling, we got back in the boat and headed to Maya Bay where the movie the Beach was filmed.  "Chris" kept telling us that Leonardo is still on the island and we have to find him.  We didn't look.  Pulling up to this place, it was incredible. I have never in my life seen such amazing blue clear water and paradise.

We got to get out of the boat and walk on the white soft sand & swim in this incredible water.  We only had 40 minutes here, but it was beautiful.

YEAH, so excited to be here!

Finally, it was time for us to get back on the boat and head to the main island, Koh Phi Phi.  Here is a picture of us leaving Maya Bay:
Incredible shot I got leaving Maya Bay (that's one of our crew members pulling the anchor  up)
Before lunch though, they drove us around to the other side of the Maya Bay area to see even more beautiful scenery.  Here I decided to give Tony a good kiss!

These boats were all over the place, so cool
We couldn't get over how blue the water was!
Then one more stop before lunch was to see Viking Cave where people still live in here.
Viking Cave - people actually still live in here
There were so many fish around us and since the water was unbelievably clear taking a picture to show you was easy:
Blue clear water with the bright color fish! "Chris" called these monkey fish because they love bananas
We made it to Koh Phi Phi island and got lunch.  It was a buffet style lunch with chicken stir fry, spaghetti with a weird marinade sauce, seafood soup, fresh fruit & rice.  We sat down and ate up our lunch, we were pretty hungry.  It ended up being pretty good!

So then we walked around the island a bit since we had about an hour here and got some more good shots.
Tony's so excited to be on Koh Phi Phi island!

It was so beautiful here!
OH BOY is it HOT here, so we HAD to get some ice cream.
Ice cream needed for sure!
We got back on the boat and headed to Monkey island.  However, the monkeys didn't really want to come out and play with us.  There was only 1 monkey for us to see and try to feed, but he really wasn't interested in us.
1 monkey on monkey island and he wanted nothing to do with us
Yep, getting further away

Next stop was a different island where we got lounge chairs for 150 baht and got to go snorkeling again and just lounge on the beach.  We were here for another hour of so.  The snorkeling again was super fun and we probably did it for half the time we were here.
Tony had to get the biggest fins ever!

I saw a bunch of little crabs on a rock and freaked out

We got back on the boat and head back to the marina. It was nearly 4:30pm when we returned.  It was such a great day out at sea.  When we finally got dropped back off at our hotel, around 6pm, we got ready for the night.  We were hungry and I wanted Indian food again and Tony wanted Thai. It was perfect that we found a place that had both!

Tony got Thai dinner
I got Indian Food for Dinner!
Perfect Place to eat for us!
We then walked around and did some shopping.  However, we did run into a Chicago Steakhouse, who knew!
Who would have thought this was in Thailand! Great sky line haha
Also, the had McDonald's, we only ate McDonald's once at one of the airports for breakfast.
All McDonald's had him out front
Saw these signs all over if a tsunami hit we knew which way to go!
Just in case!
Then we ended our night with a beer at these hut bars they had up all over.  And also played a game that we first were introduced to in Wisconsin by Kariann - hitting a nail into wood but with the small side of the hammer.  It was so funny to see this here in Thailand, but we did play a game or two.

Then we headed home around 11pm, but got into this light flashing, music blaring Tuk Tuk.  It was really fun to pull up to our nice hotel in this thing, he did turn the music down when we pulled up though.  hahaha It was funny!
Pimped out Tuk Tuk driving us home!
Good night!
