Welcome to South Africa

Our flight to Amsterdam ran 1 1/2 hours late, but we did get to sit together, however we didn't have much time exploring the airport. However, Tony did find an absolutely amazing treat - Carmel filled waffles. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

This next picture was taken while flying over Angola - we thought it was a perfect welcome to Africa photo - do you?

YEAH, we made it to Cape Town, South Africa. There are lots of signs welcoming the fans, cheering on the teams, and rooting for the Bafana Bafana (South African Soccer Team). Our excitement and enthusiasm was definitely showing!

Finally, after going through customs and getting our baggage, we found the Taxi stand to head to our hotel. Surprisingly, the driver is on the passengers side of the car and they drive on the opposite side of the road. We had a very friendly taxi driver who pointed out different areas of Cape Town, for example, where the very 1st heart transplant took place.

Entering our hotel blew us away - it's gorgeous. We were greeted by a nice man with a top hat and tails, reception man was very welcoming and Freddy took us to our room. We gave Freddy a tip - however Tony is still trying to figure out Rand to the US$ hahaha
10 ZAR (Rand) = $1.28
100 ZAR (Rand) = $12.86

This place is like a mini 1 bedroom condo in the city - but with a chandler. So we are now enjoying our first beverage in Cape Town:
Tony = Castle Lager
Debi = Anura 2009 Sauvignon Blanc from Simonsberg Paarl South Africa
They are both Perfect!

We just did a quick walk through the hotel, found this amazing roof deck with pool, bar, beds to lounge in and this incredible view of Green Point Stadium:

We can't wait for the days to come, especially tomorrow morning to see this beautiful city in the day light - goodnight everyone.
