We slept in from our night out and prepared ourselves for the US vs England game. We hung out at our apartment and watched Korea destroy Greece. We then got ready and Brendan & Pat came over to our place, along with their friend that they are staying with, Sean, and 2 of his friends, Anne & Stewart (a.k.a. Freddy). We all hung out and watched Argentina vs. Nigeria, while having a BBQ. We made mash potatoes, sausage, chicken wings, garlic potatoes & Ostrich. Ostrich was so good, we just couldn't believe how amazing it tasted.
After eating our feast, we headed to Hemisphere to watch the US vs. England game. We had heard from our new friend Bobby that there were going to be other American's at this bar watching the game. Hemisphere is located on the 31st floor of the ABSA building, where you had an incredible 180 degree view of Cape Town. You could see Table Mountain lite up, City Hall & the Fan Fest below, as well as V & A Waterfront.
One interesting thing we found in the bathroom to this place was a straightener for girls to use. It costs R5, which is like $0.65.
It was a very exciting game, 1 to 1. The bar went crazy when the ball slowly rolled into England's net. People were wearing American Flags around their shoulders, jerseys, & fun hats. There were a few English people there rooting on England, however the majority were American.
Hemisphere's owner was originally from Chicago. They had 'American' appetizers out for people to enjoy - mini hotdogs wrapped in salami, wings, sausage bits, chicken fingers, etc.
After the game, the bar turned into a dance party, so we stayed for a little, but then went home to rest up.
I love reading all about your trip - keep the updates coming!
