Stilling feeling jet lag, we all woke up around 11:30am. We decided that going for an afternoon jog might make us feel a little better. It was such a beautiful day and there was a path right next to the ocean. Then we walked over to a near-by coffee cafe called Caturra and bought some ground coffee for our apartment.
Then we made lunch and headed to the Fan Fest in a van shuttle - it just looked like a regular van & they shove as many people they can in there. However, it only cost R5, which is like $0.65 per person
However, when we got to the Fan Fest for the 4pm South Africa vs. Mexico game, it was completely full and had been since 12pm.
We then walked around trying to find a place to walk the game, but it was PACKED EVERYWHERE. Even sandwich shops were filled to the street with people watching the game.
However, we finally found a hotel bar in Cape Town Hotel that no one was at except for the workers - so we enjoyed the 1 vs. 1, South Africa vs. Mexico game with all the workers. It was fun! We then headed over to Green Point Stadium for France vs. Uruguay - our first game to see.
There was a long walk way to the stadium and many people
decked out with their teams colors. We waited in line to go through medal detectors and check our tickets.
When we finally got in and the stadium was really incredible and massive. We had great seats, high up, but a great view of the game. We were cheering for Uruguay but the game ended 0 to 0.
There were extremely long beer lines (only budweiser) and food lines. We ate extra long cheese hotdogs, chili hotdogs, crisps (chips), and biltong (like beef jerky). A beer at the game cost R30 = $3.75; a hotdog cost R20 = $2.50
After the game we headed home to enjoyed the rest of the night.
