We then took a mini morning nap and when we got up we walked over to Posticino - an Italian place that is said to be Sea Point (that's the part of Cape Town we are staying in)/Cape Town's best pizza in town. We were all pretty hungry because we decided to order garlic bread, prosciutto, cheese & fruit, salads, and 3 pizzas haha.

The pizzas were pretty good:
1) Mexicana - chilli, green peppers/jalapeƱos, & onions
2) Margarita - plain cheese
3) Can't remember the exact name, but it had Feta cheese, Avocado, & bacon - THIS was my Favorite.
While eating a ton, we enjoy watching the Denmark vs. Netherlands game. There were some pretty intense moments, like one of the Denmark players giving the Dutch a goal, however, then he saved himself by clearing a Dutch ball off the line. Netherlands won 2 to 0 and then we walked back to our apartment where we put on the Japan vs. Cameron game while getting ready to head out.
We decided to walk towards Green Point stadium and hang out at Fireman's Arms for drinks and food before we went to the Italy vs. Paraguay game. Here we met up with Brendan & Pat. We all got ourselves a Castle (the beer of South Africa) and Tony & I shared a Pepper Pie. And this thing was pure PEPPER - not my favorite.
Ali & Tim split a steak sandwich, however Brendan was the winner with the huge & really good ribs. These ribs were the biggest we had ever seen:
Then we walked towards the stadium where we saw a small parade, lots & lots of people cheering on Italy, & Tony & I bought our very first Vuvuzela. These are harder than you think to blow through. I sounded like a dying elephant, Tony wasn't as bad, Ali was better, & Tim sounded like a pro. However, the more we blew through the vuvuzela, the better we got at it.
All 4 of us didn't have our seats together for this game, however, Ali & Tim were sitting only 5 rows behind us. So it worked out anyway because we were all really close.
After the 1 to 1 game, I think everyone walked away feeling the cheered as loud as they could for their team:
OH and finally, if I forgot to mention, all they sell at the stadium is Budweiser:
After the game we walked home in the rain, last 5 minutes found a cab, & then went to bed early. We have to get up at 4:45am the next morning for our African Safari, so stay tuned!
So great to hear about your trip.
ReplyDeleteSo many questions:
Are the games as loud (Vuvuzelas) as it sounds on tv?
Do the South Africans seem to like you being there?

ReplyDeleteThis blog is amazing. You should quit your job and start a travel blog!
Have a good time.

I love hearing about what food you guys are eating! I'm so excited for the safari, I can't wait to see and hear about that!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Didn't know you guys had tix to see ITALIA!!!
ReplyDeleteI've already sent my thoughts to Lippi, their coach, about that starting lineup. It was awful. Yes we were dealing with some injuries, but cmon. Bench Gilardino, play Di Natale! Get Marchisio and Montolivo outta there, play Pazzini.
What other games you have tickets for?
Erica - Yes, the vuvuzela's are that loud, hahaha but I feel like we have gotten use to it at the games. And every South African we have met & talked with, loves that we are all here & enjoying their country they have said. Oh & on the Safari, it's not just a rhino Tony shouldn't pet!
ReplyDeleteJoe - Sorry for Italia's playing. We still have 2 more games we are going to - Friday, England vs. Algeria & Monday, Portugal vs. N. Korea
